Notes from Russ’s parents!

by Freddy on Jun.11, 2009, under Hospital Updates

I am going to try to get them accounts so they can post directly, but here is the latest (from last night around 11 PM).

From Mom:

Russ did have the breathing tube removed this afternoon. We are still asking for no visitors until atleast Friday night. Dinner will be brought in once again, so please come up to the 3rd floor waiting area and be with us. Thank you so very much for all of your kindness and prayers. Lou and I have just been overwhelmed.

From Dad:

Just a quick note.. the vent tube was removed this afternoon and he is breathing on his own..with oxygen through a device he can hold in his teeth. The nasal canula wasn’t working so well because he would inhale through his mouth and exhale through his nose! :) So he’s doing better .. and better every day. We are so very happy with the outpouring of love and support from his friends and even people we don’t know…Thank you all so very much!

Still sedated

by Freddy on Jun.09, 2009, under Hospital Updates

Russ is still sedated. The breathing tube is still bothering him. We were asked not to visit right now, it has been requested that only family should visit. Everyone is welcome to visit the ICU waiting room and spend time with his family. Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers.

Leg movement

by Freddy on Jun.09, 2009, under Hospital Updates

We got word last night from the hospital that Russ moved his right leg. He was most likely heavily sedated but that gives us all hope that signals are properly traveling from his brain to his legs. On top of that Steveo got to see his brother lift his right arm and rub it against his chest showing that he has feeling (and some motion).

Last update I got was that Russ was going to be heavily sedated until doctors can remove the breathing tube. They expect to do that either today or tomorrow. It was causing him some annoyances and we all know how stubborn Russ can be.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and thoughts! We hope to see you at one of the benefits.
